Diveworks is fitted with a Yamaha ME420 sti Trp diesel sterndrive unit. This was fitted new in December 1997.
Sterndrives are a high maintenance propulsion device, but for me the advantages of manouverability, shallow water operation, trailerability and a minimal boat downtime by having a spare drive ready to go, far outweighs the dissadvantages of high maintenance.

As at May 2008 and 5000 hours, I have completed 3 engine rebuilds, 2 intermediate housing rebuilds and countless stern drive rebuilds.
I do all repairs and maintenance myself and think I know this unit fairly well.
I constantly recieve emails from all corners of the globe both seeking and being given advice and assistance with these drives.
